Adopt a Pet!

Pet of the week...

July 24, 2014
Anura has the kind of face that will make anyone melt! She has been waiting for quite awhile for someone to notice her, and I know she's hoping someone really great will come soon. ANURA (also known as #90) is a dainty Pit Bull mix, approximately 8 years old, sweet as apple pie, and would love nothing more than a soft bed to lie on, someone to love and a place to call home! Please stop by the New Haven Animal Shelter anytime Monday through Saturday from 12:30 PM until 4:30 PM or call 203-946-8110 for further information. Located at 81 Fournier Street, New Haven, Connecticut. Meet and greets with the ENTIRE family are required!
An older animal is often over looked in shelters as people don't realize how much work kittens and puppies are. We understand that when people want to bring in a furry friend they want a young one. However, most families don't weigh out the pros and cons of adopting an older animal versus a baby. Then next thing you know the cute baby phase is over and the now toddler dog or cat has found themselves in a local animal shelter or rescue searching for a home. kittens much like puppies are a fantastic miracle of life and great fun but while their baby size is short lived, they look like adults much sooner than they are. Kittens and puppies needs lots of training and attention especially when they are a mere 8 weeks old. While an older cat or dog is house broke, trained and calmed down quite a bit. This is perfect for a family with kids as you won't go through the adolescent years with your furry friends as well as your kids. Consider adopting an older cat or dog like Anura and giving them a second chance at life.
New Haven Animal Shelter is one of the busiest shelters in the State of Connecticut. With any city shelter, over population is a problem and thus being a no kill shelter is an impossibility unless they are allowed to adopt the no kill nation protocols. We can help New Haven animal Shelter by adopting and spay/neutering our animals to help decrease over population. If you or someone you know is interested in adopting please pass along the dogs you see weekly in Macaroni Kid and help spread the word for their homeless animals. You never know who may be looking for their next furry family member.
